CORFU - SHANGHAI
From small Corfu that is a Greek island in Mediterranean Sea and from the [EEEEK] which is a special school that entertains students with training difficulties a mission of four people travelled in order to it participates in the fights Special Olympics that became in Shanghai of China. The choice and the attendance in this travel did not become accidental. The EEEEK Corfu in his program of study considers that one of the most important role in the socialization and the growth of personality of students play the sports and for this reason cultivate sports as the football Cykling Basket and the track. The team of Corfu participated with the Greek mission after choice in which important role played the very good presence of Corfiot of athletes in the Greece championship in the beginning of summertime in Athen .
The mission was not drawn without problems, because for first time the children would be removed so much a lot of days from their family but also first time would travel so much far, almost in the opposite side of ground. Participate in this mission was the director of school ,professor of Natural Education Mr T Gavalas and students athletes D Anthis ,D Moraitis] and K Arbanitakis. The travel even if distant he was exceptional, and the children despite long times where they remained in the plane, despite the change of many destinations they corresponded excellently and they reacted positively in the all challenges. Our students gained a enormous experience, saw a lot of interesting things, entered in big planes and lived in them long times. Were moved in modern airports, knew new places, saw different persons other colours in the sky and in the nature. They saw enormous buildings. Participated in a worldwide athletic organisation. Became members one of world athletic family, became friends with children from the all world. They lived the ceremony of beginning and the ceremony of expiry. They visited different regions, schools, families. They were moved in the streets of China, they entered in commercial shops and bought local products and souvenirs. They turned in Corfu enthusiasts and with the better impressions.
In order to we achieve all these important role they played and we thank our friends, the volunteers of fights , They remained near us the all days, where they created a friendly climate, that connected almost the all missions from each other, that they ate together us, that became our friends,
where their have to give them back a lot . A lot of grins, many thanks also many friendship. From our school, from small island of Corfu, we thank the city, the organizers and the children of Shanghai .
We owe them our good hospitality line after four years in World Special Olympics 2011 in Athens.
